Sex offender registry gets new address, look, search features

The national sex offender registry, which draws 2.3 million hits a day, has a new name, look and search features.

The new site - the Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender registry - can be found here: http://www.nsopw.gov/Core/Conditions.aspx It searches sex offender registries in 50 states, two U.S. territories and the District of Columbia based on name, state, county, city or ZIP code.

The national site was launched in the summer of 2005 and has drawn more than 17 million users It's named after a 22-year-old college student, Dru Sjodin of Grand Forks, N.D., who was kidnapped and murdered in November 2003 by a sex offender who had crossed state lines.
